LOS ANGELES — If you love YouTube, but you’re sick of all the countless random videos people post, then you’re in luck. Sarah Silverman and Michael Cera have a solution.
The pair, along with Brooklyn-based rapper Reggie Watts and Adult Swim stars Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, have teamed up with Google to create their own YouTube Channel called JASH, which stands for “Just Attitude So Hey.” It’s one of 60 new YouTube networks that was announced last fall.
“Literally, we were at a restaurant and Tim said, ‘Just attitude!’ Which is so Tim,” Silverman told The Hollywood Reporter. “And then Michael Cera said, ‘So... hey?’ Which is so Michael Cera.”
The channel was launched on the opening night of SXSW — the annual music and indie film festival held in Austin, Texas — and will allow the comedians to experiment with original content without the limitations of traditional television.
“We each have pages within JASH and we each can curate those pages,” Silverman said. “This is what we think is funny. It may not be your cup of tea, but there’s no testing involved, there’s no second-guessing of what a 14-year-old boy would like. It’s just a place to do stuff and fail or not fail.”
Cera added that it will be “quality over quantity.”
While we don’t know for sure what we’ll exactly see on JASH, we do know that Silverman is currently working on a “French film noir trailer,” and Cera is focusing on a 25-minute short film.
