London Fashion Week came to a close on Tuesday, and the five-day event lived up to its reputation as a prime venue for fresh, innovative talent. A handful of designers searched for inspiration at museums and galleries: John and Simone Rocha went like father, like daughter – both designers used artists as starting points for their own collections. Roksanda Ilincic compared the abstract paintings of Josef Albers to the fantastical sculptures of Niki de Saint Phalle, and of course, Piet Mondrian showed up on the runway, this time in the opening look for Paul Smith.
